It is the single mostannoying question I get asked. "Why should we spend millions going into space when we have homeless/unemployment/famine/animal abuse/Chinese babies to adopt here?"

Awaiting the "more on this later." My thoughts: the boon to technology which will eventually make its way down to consumer-level products and enhancements (and reduce cost of typical consumer "gadgets").
